What is peeling?

Skin aging is a must. It is impossible to avoid this, but you can try to slow down, since in the 21st century there are a great many ways to rejuvenate the skin of the face. Serghei Starus Shutterstock I would like to pay special attention to facial peeling. The word peeling comes from the English “to peel off” and is translated as “strongly scrape”, or “sand”. The progenitor of this procedure is Ancient China, in which wine was used as a peeling agent with an active element in the form of tartaric acid. In cosmetology, this name refers to the procedure for cleaning the skin from the stratum corneum. During the life of the skin cells die and accumulate, the appearance of the skin deteriorates, and it begins to look older and neglected. When peeling, peeling and removal of these old cells occur, due to which the skin is renewed, wrinkles and folds disappear. Today in cosmetology salons there is a wide range of peeling. Depending on the degree of contamination and the type of skin specialist may appoint a particular procedure.
So, according to the method of impact on the surface of the skin, the following types of peeling are distinguished:
• Mechanical. • Physical. • Ultrasound. • Biological. • Chemical. • Laser.
Other. The depth of the effects on the skin are superficial, median and deep peels. But first things first. The indications for superficial peeling are enlarged pores, acne, oily skin of the face. However, it is almost impossible to correct obvious age-related changes in the skin of the face with superficial peeling. Median peeling is recommended for pronounced age-related changes: for example, deep wrinkles, sagging skin, stretch marks. It is also prescribed before plastic surgery. The most aggressive is a deep peeling, as, in fact, is a full-fledged operation, which is carried out in the hospital under general anesthesia. With the help of it, deep wrinkles are removed, pigment spots are eliminated, the skin is lifted. Methods of exposure to certain substances during the passage of the peeling can also be completely different. Some remove the layer of keratinized skin cells, others dissolve it, and others soften this layer before removing it. The most popular these days is mechanical peeling. In its application, exposure to solid and very small particles is used, which are placed in a soap substance. Such substances can be crushed nutshells, apricot stones, clay, algae and others. These particles act on the skin like sandpaper. Another type of peeling, which is carried out in the salons – a physical method that allows you to clean the skin. In this procedure, exposure to ultraviolet rays or water vapor occurs. The skin of the face is pre-steamed and cleaned with small brushes. The most effective and complex type of peeling is chemical. Cleansing the skin on the face with this method is due to the effects on the epidermis of various cleansing agents and substances. Such substances can be various acids (salicylic, lactic, tartaric, glycolic, etc.). Chemical peeling causes superficial skin burns and subsequent exfoliation. The depth of the burn is controlled by a beautician, and it depends on the concentration of the active substance. Chemical peels have a number of contraindications, such as fever, blood vessels located close to the surface, inflammation of the skin. No matter what kind of peeling you have to work on the skin of the face, you need to remember that after any procedure you should soothe the skin of the face and continue to take care of it.
